Research Brainstorming
I am studying the benefits of getting a degree in Liberal Arts in today's world in order to find out if people can be successful and happy with an art degree. I hope to help my readers understand that art majors contribute so much to their communities and businesses and are not just wasting their time in college or wasted space in the office.
My audience is mostly against my topic.
They are business owners, parents, counselors, or anyone who is in a position to counsel, hire, or mentor young adults as they make their decisions concerning their schooling and/or life occupations
They initially find my claim unacceptable because in many of their eyes Liberal Arts is a dying art that is no longer helpful to the rest of the world. They would encourage people to pursue things such as business, law, medical, or computer based degrees/occupations because they view those types of paths as helpful, useful, and essential to the world and they view arts as optional, and something that people only do as a hobby.
My audience values progress, the newest, brightest, and shiniest thing. They value money and feeling like they are contributing to their society in a way that is going to change it for the good. They value feeling important.
They fear failure.
